Short Docu Civil Engineer

For preparation, I created a script and a rough storyboard tailored to the reality concept. I conducted research, scouted locations, and held conversations with the person involved to ensure accuracy. I also borrowed equipment from school, including cameras, audio gear, and various lights, to be fully prepared for filming.

During filming, I followed my father throughout his day, capturing both planned shots and additional B-roll for visual variety. Early on, I encountered issues with incorrectly recorded shots, but checking footage immediately on a laptop allowed me to quickly fix mistakes. The shoot took place in multiple locations, including indoor and outdoor settings such as the Soest town hall. For the interview scene, I used three-point lighting to achieve a professional look.

In post-production, the workflow was mostly smooth, though I realized my organizational skills could improve. I had hours of footage, and better sorting would have made editing more efficient. The editing process allowed me to craft a coherent story, though color correction remains an area for growth.

Overall, the final video turned out beautifully, and I’m proud of the result. This project taught me the importance of thorough preparation, adaptability during filming, and maintaining a structured workflow in post-production.
